I made an Amazon wish list to make it easy for you to check out my recommended tools (and tool kits). The best is to stick with the darker toned Kemper tool kit along with the small blue rubber rib. Everything else beyond these guys are really up to you.
Outside of the tool Kemper tool kit, my FAVORITE tool is 1000% this one! Not necessarily 100% necessary but it is the one tool that I consistently use from my bag.
As for apron, I highly recommend this store. The style itself is called "The Pottery Apron". The separate legs are perfect for hugging the wheel and this particular style has a few pockets up top to hold tools, along with a few other pockets for whatever else you want to keep close.
