A brief history:   Anagama kilns are an ancient type of pottery kiln that originated in China during the 5th century. It is a version of the Climbing Dragon kiln of south China that was further developed by breaking up the firing space into a series of chambers in the Noborigama kiln.
In 2009, a school teacher by the name of Trevor Youngberg built an Aanagama kiln in his backyard in Woodbridge, Connecticut. Back in 2018, my pottery professor Greg Cochenet, invited me to come help stoke one of the recent firings and learn about Anagama kilns.
Later on in 2019 and 2022, I was able to submit a few pieces into Youngberg's Beluga-Gama kiln and his Guppie-Gama kiln (not pictured).
